Bulldogs Drop Season's First Road Match

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Junior Katie Griswold buried a PK at 27:53 for the day's lone goal in a 6-1 loss at Indiana Sunday afternoon. The Bulldogs, who won 4-0 at home on Friday, are now 1-1-0 on the young season.

Griswold's first-half PK was set up by a Hoosier foul in the box during a loose ball. The Bulldogs were also able to piece together a couple dangerous tries, including one by freshman Elise Kotsakis in the first half and sophomore Anna Ventimiglia in the second period.

Lisa Nouanesengsy had a had trick for the Hoosiers, who scored three times in each half. The seventh hat trick in IU history and the school's first since 2007. Carly Samp, Abby Smith and Orianica Velasquez each scored one goal for Indiana.

Indiana attempted 19 shots to BU's 12 and had an 11-6 edge in shots on goal. Each team had four corner kicks.

Kotsakis led the Dawgs with three shots (two on goal). Ventimiglia and freshman Ann Zerfas each had two shots. Both Julie Burton and Natalie Galovska played a half in goal for the Bulldogs. Galovska made three saves and Burton had two stops.

Butler has two matches this coming week, playing at Indiana State Friday, Aug. 26 and hosting Oregon State Sunday, Aug. 28. Sunday's match at the Butler Bowl kicks off at noon.
