Bulldog Women's Soccer Signs Six
INDIANAPOLIS - The Butler women's soccer program has added six new freshman players during the spring signing period. Ellie Gabriel, Mackenzie Hopkins, Sophia Maccagnone, Natalie Nusinow, Addison Schaar and Vanessa Staublin will take the field for the Bulldogs this coming fall.
The Bulldogs, who lost just one senior from last year's team, reloaded this year with three Michigan standouts as well as players from Indiana, Ohio and Oregon.
ELLIE GABRIEL - F (Grandville,
Mich./Grandville)
Three-year letterwinner at Grandville...led high school team in
assists as a junior, helping the team to a district
championship...played for GR Crew Juniors...also played for Super Y
team which advanced to the national finals...high school coach was
Lewis Robinson...honor roll student and National Honor Society
member...born March 31, 1994...daughter of Scott and Cheryl
Gabriel...has an older sister and a younger sister...plans to major
in psychology.
MACKENZIE
HOPKINS - GK (Lake Oswego, Ore./Lakeridge)
Three-year letterwinner at Lakeridge...minded the net for a team
that made at least the state quarterfinals three times...voted
honorable mention all-league...led team to state semifinals during
sophomore year...team advanced to state quarterfinals
twice...played for Ryann Furrer and Karl Granlund in high
school...played club soccer for OSSA '93 Storm and coach Alan
Cox...team was ranked 36th in the nation in 2012...team was NWCL
champion and a state finalist in 2011...team also played in 2011
Disney Showcase...led team to club state semifinals in 2010 and
2009...played five years with Oregon ODP and participated in 2010
National ODP ID Camp...goalkeeper coach was Angela Harrison...honor
roll student...enrolled in Butler Honors Program...born April 14,

MACCAGNONE - MF (Shelby Twp., Mich./Eisenhower)
Four-year starter at Eisenhower...named conference player of the
year as a junior in 2011...named all-league, all-district and
all-state three times...led team to district and league
championships as a freshman and again as a junior...high school
soccer coaches were Mehrdad Nekoogar and Gerry Haggerty...played
state and regional ODP for two years...club team was State Cup
runner-up in 2012...made honor roll all four years...born June 3,

NATALIE
NUSINOW - D (Dayton, Ohio/Centerville)
Three-year letterwinner and two-year starter at Centerville...led
high school team to a
conference title and district championship in 2010...helped her
team advance to the state semifinals in 2009 and 2011...received
the Greater Western Ohio (GWOC) All-Academic Award in 2011...high
school coach was Don Skelton...played club soccer for Cincinnati
United Premier Crew Juniors Gold, helping the team advance to the
Ohio South State Cup semis three times...played with her CUP team
in the Midwest Region II Championships in 2010...also participated

ADDISON SCHAAR

Three-year letterwinner at DeWitt...two-time all-state performer
and was named first team all-league, all-district and

(30)...led team to a 17-7-0 mark and a conference championship and
state semifinal appearance as a junior...team went 18-3-1 and
captured CAAC Cup in 2010 while also advancing to state
