Finishing with the second-highest team grade point average in the Atlantic 10, the Butler women's soccer squad was honored with the Team Academic Award by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA).
The Bulldogs, whose team GPA of 3.51 ranked among the nation's top 10 percent, were one of just two A-10 teams to earn a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher during the 2011-12 academic year. Conference champion La Salle paced the league with a 3.54 team GPA.
Butler joined 15 other A-10 squads who achieved a team GPA of 3.0 or higher in being honored by the NSCAA for academic excellence during the 2011-12 academic school year.
Butler was one of 152 schools nationwide to have both its men's and women's soccer teams honored by the NSCAA. This is the fifth time the women's team has received the award.
