Box Score

Senior Amy Morrison tallied a pair of first half goals to lead Butler to a 2-1 women's soccer victory over host Ball State on Friday, August 30. The match in Muncie, Ind., was the season opener for both teams.

Morrison scored the Bulldogs' first 2002 goal on a header with just over six minutes gone in the contest. The goal came off a corner kick by teammate Annie Doerr. Morrison, who led the Bulldogs in scoring a year ago, then added a second tally less than six minutes later with a shot from the middle of the box off a deflected pass from Kristin Drogell. That score proved to be the game-winner.

Ball State picked up its lone goal at 28:28 on a direct kick by Michelle Dineen.

Butler goal-keeper Amber Stauch went the distance and picked up three saves in the match. The Bulldogs also had a pair of team saves. Butler out-shot the host Cardinals, 14-9.

The Bulldogs are back in action on Sunday, Sept. 1, at Xavier.
