St. Louis, Mo. - Second half goals by juniors Molly Kruger and Kenzie Kokta and staunch defensive play guided the Bulldogs to a 2-0 victory over host Saint Louis on Friday (Sept. 12) evening. Butler picked up its second-straight shut-out with the win while improving to 3-3 on the year.
Kruger broke a scoreless tie in the 67th minute of play after receiving a crossing pass from Lindsey Fox on the right and drilling a 10-yard shot for her second goal in as many games.
Kokta added an insurance mark just over 13 minutes later, picking up a pass from Carrie Twyman and scoring her first points of the season in the 80th minute.
The two squads battled through a closely contested opening period that featured just three shots taken by both sides and 19 combined fouls.
Sophomore Laura Baker picked up her third win of the season and second shut-out, making three saves in 90 minutes.
Butler returns to action on Sunday (Sept. 14) when it takes on host Missouri beginning at 2:00 p.m. in Columbia, Mo.
