INDIANAPOLIS, IND. -- Senior Amy Morrison recorded three goals in Butler's 4-1 triumph over cross town rival IUPUI on Wednesday at the Michael A. Carroll Track and Soccer Stadium. The win boosted the Bulldogs to 4-2 on the season, while the Jaguars drop to 2-6.

IUPUI took an early lead as Angie Volovich scored a breakaway goal from a Tara Latella pass at the five-minute mark. The Bulldogs countered just eight minutes later when Morrison connected on a header from Meredith Buemi for her first goal of the game. Morrison followed up with her second goal of the game, at 24:22, off of a corner kick assist from Amy Pike, putting the Bulldogs ahead 2-1 heading into halftime.

Butler continued to dominate in the second period as Krista Rott's long range shot in the game's 40th minute found the back of the net when it took a wide bounce past IUPUI keeper Erica Hocking. Kate Lord's cross to Morrison at 52:09 resulted in Butler's fourth goal of the game. Morrison's one-touch launch into the top left corner of the net marked the seventh tally of the season for the Dallas, Texas native.

"Anytime a team can score four goals in one outing, you know they've played well," said head coach Woody Sherwood. "Scoring that many goals against any team is extremely difficult in collegiate soccer. This was also a great game for us because it gave us the chance to give our younger players some quality minutes."

Butler controlled the game entirely offensively, recording 20 shots to IUPUI's nine.Butler goalies Amber Stauch and Katie Sanders split time, with each posting two saves.

With her three goals, Morrison now moves into a third-place tie for all-time goals (34). Her three goals against the Jaguars ranks second in Butler's single game records.

The Bulldogs will take a week off to rest before returning to action on Thursday, Sept. 26 when the squad hosts Wright State in their first Horizon League battle of the season. Match time is slated for 7 p.m. at Kuntz Stadium.
