Bulldogs Fall to Loyola in OT
Sept. 28, 2003
Loyola freshman Mary Dale scored off a Rambler corner kick in the 99th minute of the match to break a scoreless tie and drop the Bulldogs to 0-2 in Horizon League play. Butler managed to outshoot the home team 10-6, but couldn't get anything by Loyola keeper Emily Peick, who posted the shutout with ten saves.
Katie Sanders went the distance in goal for the Bulldogs, making two saves on the afternoon. Her record drops to 2-2-1 on the season. Kate Lord, Krista Rott and Annie Doerr each had two shots for the Bulldogs, as all ten Butler shots were on goal.
"We're just at a loss for words right now," said coach Woody Sherwood. "This is another team that we've played well in the past and that we outplayed today. But it's frustrating that we just can't find a way to get the ball in the net."
Ashley Baron assisted on Dale's fifth goal of the season. The win levels the Ramblers' Horizon League mark at 1-1 and lifts their overall record to 4-5-1. The loss drops Butler's record to 4-5-1 with the team's third consecutive loss.
The Bulldogs travel to Ft. Wayne for a non-conference match against IPFW Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.
