Second Half Goals Lead Butler Past Youngstown State, 3-0

Junior Abbie Kaul scored her first and second goals of the season Sunday to lead the Bulldogs to a 3-0 victory over the Penguins of Youngstown State. A pair of corner kicks by Junior Molly Kruger and Sophomore Sarah Phelps found their way to Kaul and into the back of the net.

The win improves the Bulldogs record to 6-5 overall and 2-0 in Horizon League play, while the Penguins drop to 2-8 overall and 0-2 in the Horizon League.

Butler started off strong from the beginning testing the Youngstown State goalkeeper and was led in shots by Kruger. The Bulldogs could not find the back of the net until the second half when Kruger touched the ball past the keeper from the 6 yard box off a cross from Junior Carrie Twyman in the 63rd minute.

Kaul went on to score her two goals in the 66th and 71st minute assuring the win for the Bulldogs.

Sophomores Laura Baker and Jessica Schein shared time in the net for the Bulldogs, with Baker picking up her sixth win on the season.

The Bulldogs will be back in action Friday, October 3rd against Xavier in Indianapolis.
