Butler fired 27 shots Wednesday against IPFW, but couldn't find the back of the net with any of them, falling 1-0 to the Mastodons. Nicole Halls' first goal of the season came off a Meghan Doehla serve after a foul 41 minutes into the match and IPFW made it stand to take the match at Varsity Field. With the win, IPFW is now 4-7, while the Bulldogs fall to 3-6-2.
Butler out-shot the Mastodons, 27-6, and held an 8-2 advantage in corner kicks. Senior Rachel Pivarnik led Butler with six shots, while Meredith Buemi, Kate Lord and Caitlin Gill each added four. All three of Butler's goalkeepers saw action in the match, as Katie Sanders, Megan Cappa and Annalise Larkin each registered approximately 30 minutes of work.
IPFW's Shannon Lynn made nine saves on the afternoon, posting the shutout.
Butler continues its homestand with a Horizon League tilt against Youngstown State Friday. The Penguins arrive at Varsity Field for a 3 p.m. match. The Bulldogs host North Dakota State Monday at 3 p.m. to conclude the three-match homestand.
