The Bulldogs had a large task in front of them Friday night, traveling to Champaign to face No. 12 Illinois on the Fighting Illini's "Senior Night." Brittany Ward's goal was the only score of the night in an Illinois 1-0 win. With the loss, the Bulldogs end the regular season at 8-8-2. The Fighting Illini improve to 13-3-2 heading into the Big Ten Tournament.
"We gave up a soft goal in the first half on some miscommunication," said coach Woody Sherwood. "We were clearly outplayed throughout the first half."
Sherwood was pleased with how his team rebounded after halftime.
"We came out and turned the tables in the second half," said Sherwood. "We had some good opportunities and looked extremely impressive during the second half."
