Nov. 11, 2001
DETROIT, Mich. - The Butler women's soccer team's hopes of a NCAA Tournament berth fell short on Sunday (Nov. 12), as the Bulldogs fell 1-0 in triple-overtime to UW-Milwaukee in the Horizon League Tournament Championship at Titan Field. Butler finishes the season with a school-record 13-7 mark, while the Panthers improve to 15-4.
UWM's Kristine Coburn headed in a ball 3:35 into the third overtime to give the No. 1 seeded Panthers their second league soccer title. Coburn's goal was scored off of a pass by teammate Julie Ruma.
Butler outshot the Panthers 9-6 in the game, as goalie Amber Stauch went the distance for the Bulldogs, tallying four saves.
UW-Milwaukee goalkeeper Kerri St. Aubin made five saves in the match, recording her second shutout of the tournament. The Panthers never allowed a goal against a league opponent this season.
