Butler Picked Fourth In Horizon League Preseason Poll: The Butler women's soccer team has been picked to finish fourth in the Horizon League in 2008, according to the league's preseason poll which was released on August 11. The Bulldogs garnered 46 points in the poll, finishing just one point out of third and 17 points out of first. Butler was edged out of third place by Wright State, which collected 47 points. Milwaukee, the 2007 regular season champion, earned 63 points to finish as the preseason favorite, while tournament champion Loyola placed second with 58 points. Detroit and Valparaiso finished tied for fifth with 31 points each, Cleveland State and Green Bay tied for seventh with 19 points a piece and Youngstown State placed ninth with 10.

Challenging 2008 Schedule Lies Ahead: A non-conference schedule loaded with teams from the Big Ten, Big 12, Big East and Atlantic-10 and an always rigorous Horizon League slate await the Butler women's soccer team in 2008. The schedule features 10 home matches - the program's most in a season since 2004 - and will pair the Bulldogs with five teams that finished 2007 ranked among the top-15 in their respective regions.

Bring `Em Back: The Bulldogs will have plenty of experience on their side in 2008, as they return 13 letterwinners and eight starters that led the team to a 5-3 record in the Horizon League and a fourth-place finish last season. The squad will feature players that accounted for 28 of its 30 goals scored and 19 of its 22 assists.

An Upward Trend: The 2007 season was one of Butler's finest in recent years. The Bulldogs' 10 overall wins and five league victories were the most for the program since the 2002 team went 15-6-0 on the year and 5-1-0 in conference play. Additionally, Butler's 1.47 goals per game average was the highest mark in five years.

Next Up: Butler hits the road next weekend for a single match at Western Kentucky on Sunday, August 31, beginning at 1:00 p.m. in Bowling Green, Ky.
