Indianapolis, Ind. - Members of the Butler women's soccer team braved the frigid November weather recently to help collect canned food items for the Gleaners Food Bank Canned Food Drive outside of Lucas Oil Stadium prior to the Colt's home game against Houston on Nov. 16.
Fans entering the stadium brought bags of canned and non-perishable food items for the drive and also donated money to the cause. In its third year, the food drive brought in 3,916 pounds of food and $5,606 in donations.
"It was cold out, but I think it was important to remember what we were doing," junior midfielder Angie Muir said after the drive. "We were collecting food for those who don't have food and who are also very cold. There are people out there that we helped today that don't know when they will get to come in out of the cold."
