Pendleton, Ind. - Butler was unable to solve Cleveland State starting pitcher Amanda Macenko, as the Vikings held the Bulldogs to just three hits en route to a 7-0 decision in the second round of the Horizon League Championship on Thursday (May 7) evening at Legends Field.
Two of the Butler hits came in the first inning. Erin Jackson led off the frame with a single before being thrown out trying to swipe second, while Alex Boros followed with a two-out single to right, but the Bulldogs would be unable to capitalize.
Meanwhile, Cleveland State would get all the offense it would need in their half of the first on a two-run homer by Amanda Houchin.
Butler will move on to the consolation bracket on Friday (May 8) when it will face the winner of the morning's contest between Green Bay and Detroit beginning at 6:00 p.m. at Legends Field.
