Butler Drops Final Game In Nashville

NASHVILLE, TENN. -- Freshman Stephanie Maday tossed a four-hit shutout and senior Melinda Jackson clubbed a pair of home runs to lead Eastern Illinois past Butler, 6-0, on the final day of the Lady Bison Classic in Nashville, Tenn.  The loss dropped Butler to 1-2 in the four-team tournament, hosted by Lipscomb.

Maday struck out 12 and allowed just six base runners in her complete game performance.  She improved to 3-1 on the season and maintained a perfect 0.00 earned run average.

Jackson provided more than enough run support for Maday with a pair of two-run, home runs.  The Panthers (5-4) finished with nine total hits against Butler pitchers Leah Bry and Breanna Fisher.

Junior Jessica Huey topped Butler with a pair of hits, including a double.  Junior Erin Falkenberry and sophomore Kayla Gray had Butler’s other two hits.

The Bulldogs (2-5) will take a brief break before heading to Florida for ten contests at the Rebel Games.  Butler will begin its Florida stay against Colgate and Manhattan on Sunday, March 13.
