Butler Drops Final Game In Nashville
NASHVILLE, TENN. -- Freshman Stephanie Maday tossed a four-hit
shutout and senior Melinda Jackson clubbed a pair of home runs to
lead Eastern Illinois past Butler, 6-0, on the final day of the
Lady Bison Classic in Nashville, Tenn. The loss dropped
Butler to 1-2 in the four-team tournament, hosted by Lipscomb.
Maday struck out 12 and allowed just six base runners in her
complete game performance. She improved to 3-1 on the season
and maintained a perfect 0.00 earned run average.
Jackson provided more than enough run support for Maday with a pair
of two-run, home runs. The Panthers (5-4) finished with nine
total hits against Butler pitchers Leah Bry and Breanna Fisher.
Junior Jessica Huey topped Butler with a pair of hits, including a
double. Junior Erin Falkenberry and sophomore Kayla Gray had
Butler’s other two hits.
The Bulldogs (2-5) will take a brief break before heading to
Florida for ten contests at the Rebel Games. Butler will
begin its Florida stay against Colgate and Manhattan on Sunday,
March 13.
