Butler Softball Players Earn Academic Recognition
INDIANAPOLIS, IND. -- Seven Butler softball players have been
honored for academic achievement by the National Fastpitch Coaches
Association. Butler was further honored as a 2009-10
All-Academic Team.
Selected as 2009-10 Scholar-Athletes by the NFCA were senior
pitcher Kristen Malinkey, sophomore outfielder Rachel Brummer,
sophomore outfielder Lauren McNulty, sophomore catcher Mallory
Winters, sophomore infielder Kayla Gray, freshman infielder Devin
Dearing and freshman infielder Meaghan Sullivan. To be named
a Scholar-Athlete, players had to have acquired a 3.5 grade point
average for the year.
The Butler softball team, which compiled a school-record 36-19
record last spring, boasted a 3.201 team grade point average.
The Bulldogs were one of three teams from the Horizon League (along
with Loyola and Youngstown State) to be honored as a 2009-10
All-Academic Team.
