Breanna Fisher Named Softball Pitcher of the Week
INDIANAPOLIS, IND. -- Senior Breanna Fisher, who helped Butler
to a second place finish at the Arkansas Woo Pig Classic, has been
named Horizon League Pitcher of the Week for the week of Feb.
27-March 4. She’s the first Butler player to be honored
this spring.
Fisher didn’t allow an earned run in nine innings of work at
the four-team Arkansas tournament. She pitched four shutout
innings as the starter in Butler’s 3-0 victory over Drake in
the Bulldogs’ third game in the tournament, and then she
pitched the first five innings of the tournament championship game,
won by host Arkansas in extra innings.
The Butler righthander, who blanked Drake on three hits, allowed
just nine total hits and three unearned runs in her two games on
the mound. She had five strikeouts and finished the
tournament with a 1-0 record.
Fisher has not allowed an earned run in 14.2 innings of work this
season.
Butler will begin a stretch of nine games in California with
contests against San Diego State and Oregon at the 2012 Bayer
CropScience Classic on Friday, March 9. The three-day
tournament will conclude on Sunday, March 11. The Bulldogs
will conclude their west coast trip with four games in Fresno,
Calif., on Tuesday and Wednesday, March 13-14.
