Kristen Boros Named League Player of the Week
INDIANAPOLIS, IND. -- Freshman Kristen Boros (right), who helped
Butler to four wins in five outings, has been named Horizon League
Player of the Week for the week of April 2-8. She’s the
third Butler player to be honored this spring and the first
non-pitcher.
Boros carried one of the hot bats for Butler during a week that saw
the Bulldogs sweep a non-league doubleheader at Indiana State
before capturing two of three contests from Horizon League foe
UIC. She batted .429 in the five games with six hits, six
runs scored and three runs batted in.
The Butler infielder drove in runs in each of Butler’s
victories at Indiana State. She then helped Butler to a 4-3
victory in the series opener against UIC, recording two hits
including her first collegiate home run. She then helped
Butler clinch the series with two hit and three runs scored in the
Bulldogs’ 9-0 win over UIC.
For the week, Boros had a .714 slugging percentage and a .529
on-base percentage.
Earlier this spring, Butler senior Breanna Fisher and Butler junior
Jenny Esparza were chosen as Horizon League Pitcher of the
Week.
Butler will visit Morehead State for a non-league doubleheader on
Tuesday, April 10, before hosting IUPUI in a non-league twinbill on
Thursday, April 12. The Bulldogs will finish the week with a
three-game Horizon League series at Green Bay, beginning on
Saturday, April 14.
