Leah Bry Named Horizon League Pitcher of the Week
INDIANAPOLIS, IND. -- Sophomore Leah Bry, who pitched in six
games in six days and led Butler to four victories, has been named
Horizon League Softball Pitcher of the Week for the period of April
16-22. She’s the third Butler pitcher to be honored
this spring.
Bry started six consecutive Horizon League games during the week
and helped Butler to four victories. She was the winning
pitcher in all three games of Butler’s series’ sweep of
Detroit, and she picked up a fourth victory over Wright
State. She pitched 34 innings in the six outings and compiled
a 1.59 earned run average with 37 strikeouts.
The second-year pitcher began the week with a complete-game victory
over Wright State. She limited the Raiders to a single run on
eight hits, while striking out nine in a 5-1 Butler win.
Bry then came back on the weekend with three straight solid
performances against Detroit. She gave up just eight hits in
16 innings against the Titans and recorded 20 strikeouts. The
Butler right-hander allowed just two earned runs in the three
games.
Butler senior Breanna Fisher was chosen as Horizon League Pitcher
of the Week on March 6, while junior Jenny Esparza was tabbed as
the league Pitcher of the Week on April 2.
The Bulldogs will visit league-leading Valparaiso for a three-game
series on Wednesday and Thursday, April 25-26. The two teams
will open the series with a doubleheader on Wednesday, beginning at
3 p.m. (CT).
