McNulty, Sullivan Named All-Tournament

VALPARAISO, IND. -- Senior Lauren McNulty and junior Meaghan Sullivan were named to the All-Tournament Team at the conclusion of the 2012 Horizon League Softball Championship on Saturday, May 12.  The two Bulldogs helped Butler to a third place team finish in the league championship.

Sullivan led the Bulldogs with four hits in the tournament, including a double and one run batted in.  She batted .400 in Butler’s four tournament games.  McNulty had three hits, including two doubles and two RBI’s, while starting all four contests in centerfield.

The two Butler players were among 12 individuals honored on the All-Tournament Team.  Team champ Valparaiso had five players selected - Angie Doerffler (MVP), Amanda Wisniewski, Alex Lagesse, Sara Strickland and Jordan Rutkowski, while runner-up Loyola placed four players - Brittany Gardner, Olivia Bell, Brooke Andersen and Lauren Zaworski.  Youngstown State’s Haley Thomas was the other player chosen.

Rutkowski was named Batter of the Championship, while Gardner was picked Pitcher of the Championship.  Valparaiso’s Joylyn Ichiyama-Drewry was tabbed as Defensive Player of the Championship.
