Bulldogs Drop Narrow Decisions At Kentucky Invitational
Eastern Kentucky scored three runs in the top of the eighth inning to capture a 6-3 decision over Butler and hand the Bulldogs their third loss at the Kentucky Invitational on Saturday (March 1). Earlier in the day, the Bulldogs dropped a narrow 6-4 decision to Pittsburgh.

Kentucky Holds Off Late Butler Rally
Host Kentucky jumped to an 8-0 lead and then held off Butler’s comeback attempt to post a 9-7 victory in the first game of the Kentucky Invitational on Friday (Feb. 28). The Bulldogs will continue play in the tournament with a pair of games on Saturday (March 1).

Bulldogs Travel To Kentucky For Weekend Tournament
Butler’s softball team will continue its road schedule this weekend, travelling to Lexington, KY, for the University of Kentucky Invitational. The four-team tournament will begin on Friday, Feb. 28, and wrap up on Sunday, March 2.

Leah Bry Earns BIG EAST Honor
Butler senior Leah Bry, who turned in three strong pitching performances for the Bulldogs at the Frost Classic in Chattanooga, Tenn., has been named BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week. She’s the first Butler softball player to be honored by the conference.

Butler Wins Final Game At Frost Classic
Senior Leah Bry pitched her second straight complete game and helped lead Butler to a 2-1 victory over Austin Peay at the Frost Classic on Sunday, Feb. 23. The Bulldogs finished the tournament in Tennessee with a 2-3 record.

Bulldogs Split Two Games In Tennessee
Senior Leah Bry tossed her first complete game shutout of the 2014 campaign and helped Butler to a split of two games at the Frost Classic in Chattanooga, Tenn., on Saturday (Feb. 22). The Bulldogs won the opener against Radford, 2-0, before dropping a 3-1 decision to Ohio.

Despite two solid pitching performances, Butler came up empty in the first two games of the Frost Classic on Friday, Feb. 21. The Bulldogs lost the tournament-opener to Northwestern State, 5-1, before falling to host Chattanooga, 3-1, in the second contest.

Bulldogs Head To Tournament In Tennessee
Butler’s softball team will travel to Chattanooga, Tenn., this weekend to continue an early road schedule at the 2014 Frost Classic, hosted by Chattanooga. The Bulldogs will open the tournament on Friday, Feb. 21, with a double-header against Northwestern State at 1:30 p.m. and Chattanooga at 4 p.m.

Bulldogs Lose Final Game In Arkansas
Paced by the strong performance of pitcher Katie Kelley, UMKC powered past Butler, 9-3, at the 2014 Arkansas Invitational on Sunday, Feb. 16. It was Butler’s second consecutive loss to the Kangaroos and dropped the Bulldogs to 2-6 on the season.

Brooke Parker delivered a two-out, bases-loaded single in the bottom of the eighth inning to lift UMKC to a 7-6 victory over Butler at the 2014 Arkansas Invitational on Saturday, Feb. 15. It was Butler’s second straight setback in extra innings, and it dropped the Bulldogs to 2-5 on the young season.

Jackson State plated the game’s only run in the top of the ninth inning and then held off Butler to capture 1-0 decision in the second round of the 2014 Arkansas Invitational on Friday (Feb. 14). The extra-inning setback dropped the Bulldogs to 2-4 on the young season.

Sisters Kelsey and Mimi Cartwright combined to drive in five runs and host Lipscomb held off Butler to post a 6-3 victory in the Bulldogs’ final game at the 2014 Music City Classic on Sunday (Feb. 9). The Bulldogs finished the three-day tournament in Nashville, Tenn., with a 2-2 record.

For the second straight day, Butler went to extra innings to pull out a victory at the 2014 Music City Classic. The Bulldogs, who dropped a game to Detroit earlier in the evening, rallied for a single run in the top of the eighth frame to defeat East Tennessee State, 3-2, on a chilly Saturday night in Nashville, Tenn.

Butler Softball Looks To First Season In The BIG EAST
Eight returning regulars and a handful of promising newcomers have fueled optimism in Butler softball program as the team prepares for its first season in the BIG EAST. Head coach Scott Hall begins his fourth season at Butler’s helm, after leading the Bulldogs to a seventh place finish in the Atlantic-10 Conference in 2013. Butler posted a 22-24 overall record last season, including an 11-9 mark in conference play.

Butler Adds Five Talented Recruits
The Butler softball team signed five talented recruits in preparation for the 2014-2015 season. Four of the recruits hail from the state of Indiana with the fifth from Illinois.

Butler Earns NFCA Academic Recognition
Eight Butler softball players earned individual recognition and the Bulldogs were honored as a team by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) for academic achievement. The eight players each were named NFCA All-America Scholar-Athletes, and Butler was tabbed as a 2012-13 All-Academic Team.

Riley Carter Selected To Canada National Team Pool
Butler shortstop Riley Carter was one of 41 athletes selected by Softball Canada to the 2013-14 Women’s National Team Athlete Pool. Athletes named to the Women’s National Team Pool are eligible to be invited to the Women’s National Team training camps and selection camps.
