Butler To Host Hitting Facility Open House
The Butler Athletic Department will officially unveil its new baseball/softball/golf hitting facility with an “Open House” on Thursday, Nov. 19. The facility will be open to the public from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Stefanie Ewing Named Assistant Softball Coach At Butler
Stefanie Ewing, who saw action in more than 200 games as a catcher/designated player at Oregon State University, has been named assistant softball coach at Butler University. She completed her collegiate playing career last spring.

Butler Adds Two Softball Players For 2009-10
Butler head coach Jeanne Rayman increased the strength and depth of her 2009-10 softball roster with the addition of infielder/outfielder Jessica Huey, a transfer from IUPUI, and preferred walk-on Emily Schrock. The two newcomers give the Bulldogs 21 players for the upcoming season.

Butler Signs Local Softball Standout
Devin Dearing, a four-year starter at Hamilton Southeastern High School, has signed a Letter of Intent to continue her softball career at Butler University. She will join the Bulldogs this fall.

Butler Recruit Captures Top Softball Awards
Butler recruit Jenny Esparza has added to an already impressive resume with a pair of prestigious honors, including Indiana’s top softball award. The incoming freshman capped off a brilliant senior season at Avon High School by being named the Indianapolis Star Super Team Player of the Year and by being selected as the Indiana Coaches of Girls Sports Association 2009 Miss Softball.

Bulldogs Tie School Record For Wins
Butler's 2009 softball campaign ended two steps shy of the Horizon League Tournament championship game, but not before the Bulldogs put on a charge that landed the team in the Butler record book. The Bulldogs won 13 of their final 19 games, including three in the Horizon League Tournament. The final victory gave Butler a fourth place tournament finish and 26 wins for the year, matching the Butler single season record set in 1982 and tied in 2007. The Bulldogs also set a school record for Horizon League wins with 12, breaking the previous mark of 10 set in 1998. Butler, picked seventh in the preseason poll of league coaches, rebounded from a 6-16 start and wound up finishing fifth in the league regular season race.

Butler Thumps Loyola To Advance Before Falling Short To Raiders
Butler jumped for 12 runs - including seven in the first inning alone - en route to a five-inning triumph over Loyola to advance in the Horizon League Championship on Saturday (May 9) morning at Legends Field. The Bulldogs' run in the tournament would come to an end in the next game, however, as Wright State rallied for three runs in the seventh to come away with a 5-2 decision.

Fisher Dominates As Bulldogs Shut Down Green Bay, 2-0
Freshman pitcher Breanna Fisher dealt a brilliant complete-game effort, while the Butler bats manufactured all the run support the rookie right-hander would need, as the No. 5 seed Bulldogs picked up a 2-0 victory to the seventh-seeded Phoenix home from the Horizon League Championship on Friday (May 8) evening at Legends Field.
