Tennessee-Martin used six runs in the top of the seventh inning Tuesday to turn a 1-0 lead into a 7-0 win over Butler at the Rebel Games in Orlando, Fla. Freshman Jenny Jacobs led the Bulldogs with two hits and senior Melissa Lemrick added a double, as the Skyhawks defeated the Bulldogs for the second time this season.
Junior Meghan Howard got the start on the mound for the Bulldogs and looked strong through the first six innings, allowing just the one UTM run. However, the Skyhawk bats came alive in the seventh as the lead grew. Howard, in her first action of the Rebel Games, took the loss.
The Bulldogs are now 6-6 on the season. The team had a 6 p.m. game scheduled against Yale, but the start was delayed by rain. With more rain in the forecast for tonight, it looks unlikely that the game will be played.
Butler returns to action Wednesday against Rider (10:40 a.m.) and Bucknell (12:30 p.m.) and have two games scheduled for Thursday before returning to Indianapolis.
