Bulldogs Drop Pair to Eastern Michigan

March 16, 2004

Box Score

Heather Ryan collected four hits and freshman Jamie Wonderly pitched 12 innings Sunday, but it wasn't enough as the Bulldogs dropped both games of a doubleheader against Eastern Michigan.

In Game 1, the Bulldogs staked EMU to a 4-1 lead after two innings before senior Cameo Wrasse hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the fourth to pull the home team within a run, 4-3. But the Eagles held that advantage for the final three innings and took the win. Melissa Benter and Wonderly combined for 11 strikeouts in the game. Ryan had two hits and the Bulldogs' other RBI.

In Game 2, Wonderly went the distance, allowing five hits and three runs. The freshman struck out seven EMU batters. However, the Bulldogs couldn't get a timely hit, as their seven hits left five runners on base. The Bulldogs lost, 3-0.

The Bulldogs return to action Wednesday at Evansville. The game was scheduled for originally for March 3. Butler returns home for a doubleheader against Ball State March 23.
