Bulldogs Conclude Rebel Games Winning Three Of Last Four

KISSIMMEE, FLA. - The Butler softball team concluded action at the Orlando Rebel Games by defeating Wagner, Bucknell and Vermont. Their only loss over the last four games was a 2-1 extra inning defeat by Ole Miss on Saturday (Mar. 16). The Bulldogs now stand at 6-7 on the season.
Butler ousted Wagner 12-0 on Friday (Mar. 13). Junior standout Melissa Benter picked up the win on the mound for the Bulldogs, while Andrea Keech and Katie Finley helped the offensive attack by recording a pair of doubles on the day.
In the afternoon game on Friday, Butler defeated Bucknell 7-4. Freshman Kelli Gallas tallied the win for the Bulldogs.
Butler's lone loss over the stretch came against Ole Miss on Saturday, as the Rebels won 2-1 in eight innings. Despite picking up the loss, Benter pitched a solid game, recording nine strikeouts.
The Bulldogs won their final game at the Rebel Games, defeating Vermont 9-6 Saturday afternoon. Sophomore Cameo Wrasse blasted a third inning grand slam and freshman Jess Stephens posted her first collegiate homerun on the game as well. Gallas recorded the win for the Bulldogs.
Butler will return home to take on Ball State on Thursday, Mar. 21 in a doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m. at the Butler Softball Field.
