Butler Adds Ben Davis Softball Recruit

May 31, 2007

Kaytlyn Taylor, a three-time, first team all-conference softball player at Ben Davis High School, will join the softball team at Butler University in the fall of 2007. Taylor is the latest addition to the initial recruiting class of Butler head coach Jeanne Rayman.

A three-year varsity starter and letterwinner as a catcher and third baseman, Taylor recently wrapped up her final high school season with a career .400 batting average. She batted over .400 in her first two seasons at Ben Davis and then hit .386 as a senior. She was a two-time, first team All-Marion County selection and was named All-District this spring. She's also earned All-Metro West honors and was picked to the 2007 Marion County All-Star Senior Team.

"We are very excited that Kayt Taylor has decided to join our program at Butler," said Rayman, who completed her first season as Butler's head coach this past spring. "Kayt is an excellent addition to our team. She will bring more depth to our catching position and an additional offensive threat to our roster. The things that stood out about Kayt were her love for Butler University and her intense desire to become a contributor to our softball program."

Taylor is a three-time Academic All-Conference selection and an honorable mention Academic All-State pick. She's a four-time winner of the Academic Giant Award at Ben Davis, and she plans on entering the Pre-Physician's Assistant Program at Butler.

Butler's softball team finished the 2007 season with a 26-24 record. The 26 victories set a Butler record for most wins as a Division I program and tied the school's overall mark for wins in a season. Butler placed fourth in the 2007 Horizon League Championship.
