Butler softball coach Jeanne Rayman added to her talented class of incoming freshmen by landing pitcher-infielder Breanna Fisher, an all-state performer at Northmont High School in Ohio. Fisher is the seventh player signed by Rayman for Butler's freshman class of 2008-09.
A talented two-way performer, Fisher helped lead Northmont to a 26-4 record and a berth in the district finals of the state tournament this spring. She led the Greater Western Ohio Conference in pitching wins with a 20-3 record, and she wound up fifth in the conference in runs batted in with 26. She batted .341 with eight doubles, two triples and three home runs in 30 games. She also posted 191 strikeouts and a 0.73 earned run average in 154 innings of work on the mound.
A four-year varsity player at Northmont, Fisher was a three-time all-conference performer and two-time all-district player. She was named second team All-State this spring, and she was selected to the Ohio All-Star Team for the Ohio-West Virginia All-Star Game.
Fisher joins a Butler freshman class that includes Erin Falkenberry of Pendleton Heights (Ind.) High School, Lauren McNulty of Downers Grove (Ill.) High School, Kayla Gray of Columbus (Ind.) North High School, Rachel Brummer of Thomas Jefferson Senior High School (Minn.), Alyssa Coleman of Wayzata High School (Minn.) and Paige Ashton of Eagan High School (Minn.).
