Butler Softball Recruit Named First Team All-America

July 22, 2008

Butler softball recruit Erin Falkenberry has been named first team on the 2008 Louisville Slugger/NFCA High School All-America Team. The Pendleton Heights High School infielder was the lone player from Indiana named to the All-America squad.

Falkenberry finished her high school career as one of the top hitters ever to play in Indiana. She set a state record this year with 55 runs batted in and her career totals of 29 home runs and 147 RBI's rank among the best in state history. This past spring, she batted .510 with 12 home runs, while helping Pendleton Heights to a 27-6 record.

Selected as a first baseman on the All-America Team, Falkenberry was a first team All-State performer in 2008, and she was chosen to the South team for the 2008 Indiana North-South All-Star Classic. She was one of five finalists for Miss Softball in Indiana, and she was named Area Player of the Year by the Anderson Herald Bulletin. A first team All-County performer, Falkenberry also was named first team All-North Region by the NFCA.

Falkenberry is one of eight players recruited by Butler softball coach Jeanne Rayman for the Bulldogs' 2008-09 freshmen class.
