INDIANAPOLIS - Three home meets and a winter training trip to Puerto Rico highlight the 2009-10 Butler swimming and diving schedule. The Bulldogs open the season Sunday, Oct. 4 with a quad meet in Fishers.
"Our 2009-10 meet schedule will certainly challenge our team this season, at the same time, it will give us the meet experience and preparation to perform well at the Horizon League Championships in February," women's swimming and diving head coach Maurice Stewart said. "This meet schedule is a good balance of traditional meets along with scheduling some new teams that will be great competition for us."
The season-opening quad includes St. Louis, Wright State and Evansville. BU continues with a triangular against IUPUI and Centre College at IUPUI on Friday, Oct. 23.
"I am also pleased we were able to secure the Fishers High School Natatorium for three home meets and keep our away meet relatively close to home," Stewart said.
The Bulldogs have three meets in November, including a home meet on Sunday, Nov. 1 and a trip to the House of Champions Invitational at IUPUI Nov. 13-14.
In January, Stewart's squad will travel to San Juan, Puerto Rico for a training trip Jan. 1-10. The Bulldogs then return to the state of Indiana for a triangular at Rose Hulman on Saturday, Jan. 16 and a five-team meet at home against Youngstown State, Valparaiso, Eastern Illinois and Ball State eight days later.
BU's final regular season meet is a triangular at DePauw Friday, Feb. 5.
The 2010 Horizon League Swimming and Diving Championships are set for Feb. 24-27 in Chicago. UIC is the host institution.
