INDIANAPOLIS - The Butler women's tennis team split two matches over the weekend, defeating IUPUI 5-2 and losing to Illinois 5-2. Junior Gabriella Bobrowski and freshman Brittany Farmer led the Bulldogs by going 2-0 in both singles and doubles play.
Butler (1-4) swept the doubles point and won four of the six singles matches for its first dual win of the season. Bobrowski won in straight sets at No. 1 singles and senior Becky Jenkins won handily 6-0, 6-2 at No. 3 singles. Sophomore Cam Thompson won in the fourth spot and Farmer won at No. 5 singles, with both Bulldogs winning in straight sets.
Illinois State took two of three doubles matches for the 1-0 lead and followed that with wins at Nos. 2, 3 and 5 singles. Bobrowski picked up a 6-3, 6-4 win at No. 1 singles and Farmer won 6-3, 6-2 at No. 6 singles.
Butler's next schedule match is Friday, Feb. 19 vs. Cincinnati.
