INDIANAPOLIS - Junior Gabriella Bobrowski has been named Horizon League Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week. It is the first career honor for the Niles, Ill., native, who went undefeated in both singles and doubles play last weekend.
Bobrowski went 2-0 at No. 1 singles and as well as No. 2 doubles to lead the Bulldogs to a weekend split. The junior helped BU defeat IUPUI 5-2 with a 6-0, 6-3 win over the Jaguars' Shelby Hullett on Jan. 30. She also added an 8-5 doubles win with partner Brittany Farmer.
On Jan. 31, Bobrowski beat Illinois State's Aniko Kiss 6-3, 6-4 and also picked up a doubles win with Farmer. The duo defeated Kiss and Natalia Lech 8-3. Illinois State edged the Bulldogs 5-2 in the dual match.
"Gabriella had a really good weekend, the wins against Illinois State came against really good players," head coach Jason Suscha said. "She has really earned her way up to the No. 1 spot and she has proven that she belongs there. She is tough to beat and has taken advantage of her opportunities."
Bobrowski and the Bulldogs host Cincinnati Friday, Feb. 19 at the Butler Tennis Bubble.
