Bulldogs Rout Detroit In Horizon League Opener
SOUTHFIELD, Mich. - The Butler women's tennis team blanked Detroit, 7-0, in its first Horizon League dual match of the season. BU won all of the day's doubles and singles matches in a decisive win.
With senior Gabriella Bobrowski, a key starter on the team, sitting out with a cold, the Bulldogs picked up their game and breezed by the Titans.
"This was a good win against a quality team," head coach Jason Suscha said. "Now we have some time off so we can get everybody healthy."
After Butler went up 1-0 by winning all three doubles matches, senior Natali Jaimes and three freshmen - Caroline Hedrick, Stephanie McLoughlin and Gabrielle Rubenstein - each won in straight sets to give Butler the win. Sophomore Brittany Farmer and junior Cam Thompson each won in three sets to finish the shutout.
Butler (9-6, 1-0) has won four of its last six and will continue play Saturday, April 2 at Green Bay and at Milwaukee Sunday, April 3.
