Bulldogs Blank Valpo, 7-0

INDIANAPOLIS - The Bulldogs won all six singles matches and two of three in doubles play as the Butler women's tennis team cruised past Valparaiso, 7-0, Saturday at Butler. BU is now 14-7 on the season and 6-1 in Horizon League dual matches.

The Bulldogs got wins at Nos. 1 and 2 doubles for an early lead , with senior Gabriella Bobrowski and sophomore Brittany Farmer winning 8-0 at No. 1 and freshman Angelina Qin and sophomore Natali Jaimes winning 8-5 at No. 2.

BU, using a new lineup that featured four freshmen, dominated singles action. Freshman Caroline Hedrick won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 1 singles. Hedrick, normally the team's No. 2 player, remained undefeated in league singles matches. Fellow freshman Stephanie McLoughlin (No. 2) and Gabrille Rubenstein (No. 3) each won easily in straight sets and a fourth rookie, Laura Shull picked up a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 6 singles.

Juniors Cam Thompson and Kahfii King also picked up singles wins. Thompson won 6-0, 6-0 very quickly at No. 4 and King won in three sets in the fifth spot.

The Bulldogs will finish the regular season Sunday, April 17 vs. defending league champ UIC.
