Bulldogs Finish 4th In Horizon League


INDIANAPOLIS - The Butler women's tennis team was edged, 4-2, by Detroit on Saturday, clinching fourth place at the Horizon League Tennis Championships. Senior Natali Jaimes and sophomore Brittany Farmer won in singles for Butler.

With the win, Detroit claims third place. UIC defeated Cleveland State in the championship match. The Bulldogs finished the season with a dual match record of 15-9.

Jaimes, an All-Horizon League player playing her final collegiate match, won 6-3, 6-0 over Amanda Cornwell at No. 1 singles. Farmer defeated Detroit's Elena Strakhova 7-5, 6-2 at No. 3 singles. It was Farmer's 18th singles win of the year, ranking third on the team (Gabrielle Rubenstien 21, Caroline Hedrick 19).

Senior Gabriella Bobrowski and junior Ashley Breitenbach added an 8-3 win at No. 2 doubles. Detroit won the other two contests for the doubles point.
