Bulldogs Finish Close Matches In Win Over Illinois State
NORMAL, Ill. - After each player dropped a set, senior Gabriella Bobrowski and Brittany Farmer each battled back to win their matches against Illinois State, keying the Bulldogs to a 5-2 win over the RedBirds.
Bobrowski dropped her first set 6-4 at No. 4 singles before getting the second set 6-2. Her third-set tie-break with ISU's Hannah Esker was a battle, with Bobrowski winning the battle 12-10. Farmer was down a set at No. 6 to Stefanie Youngberg before rolling 6-1, 6-1.
The Bulldogs, who won the doubles point for an early lead, also got convincing wins from freshmen Caroline Hedrick (No. 3 singles) and Gabrielle Rubenstein (No. 5). BU swept doubles play, winning all three matches for the second time this season.
Butler's next match is a home contest vs. Evansville set for Feb. 26.
