The Butler women's tennis team went 1-1 over the weekend, highlighted by a 6-1 win over Dayton. The win over UD was Butler's first dual match victory of the season.
After winning two of three in doubles play for a 1-0 lead, BU won five of six singles matches over the Flyers. Sophomores Caroline Hedrick and Stephanie McLoughlin and senior Cam Thompson were the three Bulldogs to go undefeated on the day.
Hedrick won at No. 1 singles 6-1, 6-0 after winning 8-1 at No. 2 doubles with Thompson. Thompson played No. 4 singles and rolled 6-2, 6-0 over Dayton's Erin Filbrandt. McLoughlin beat Maureen Stevens at No. 2 singles 6-1, 6-2. She also won 8-2 at No. 1 doubles with Gabrielle Rubenstein.
Sophomores Laura Shull and Angelina Qin finished the bottom half of the lineup with victories at Nos. 5 and 6 singles, respectively.
The Bulldogs also played Eastern Kentucky, losing 7-0.
