The Butler women's tennis team, 5-3 in league play and seeded No. 4, will take on Wright State Friday at 1 p.m. to open the Horizon League Women's Tennis Championship at North Central High School.
The Bulldogs and Raiders met back on April 7, with Butler winning 5-2. BU won two of three in doubles play and four of six in singles play against WSU that day.
Senior Cam Thompson was Butler's leader in the regular season with 14 singles wins. Percentage-wise, junior Brittany Farmer (11-11) and sophomore Angelina Qin (10-10) were each .500. Sophomores Stephanie McLoughlin and Gabrielle Rubenstein give Butler a strong No. 1 doubles team. The combo boasts an 18-11 record this season.
A Butler win would set up a match against defending champion UIC, which is ranked first in the Horizon League for the 16th consecutive season. The Flames have won 141 straight conference dual matches.
