MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Playing in the main singles draw, sophomores Stephanie McLoughlin and Caroline Hedrick finished the Butler women's tennis team's run at the ITA Ohio Valley Regional with a couple of singles wins.
McLoughlin won in the first round over UT-Martin's Anna Winkelman 1-6, 6-3, 6-4 before playing the tournament's top seed in Natalie Pluskota of Tennessee. Hedrick dropped her opener to Tennessee's Brynn Boren before going on a run in the back draw. Hedrick defeated Andrea Arques-Garcia of Memphis 6-3, 6-1 and then advanced by walkover over Purdue's Gisella Pere. Louisville's Manuela Velasquez ended Hedrick's tourney run 6-3, 6-3 in the back draw quarterfinals.
McLoughlin and sophomore teammate went 0-2 in the doubles main draw. The duo lost 8-6 to a team from Tennessee and then fell 8-5 to a team from Indiana in the consolation.
Butler tennis will be hosting an alumni match Saturday, Oct. 29.
