INDIANAPOLIS - The Butler women's tennis team finished a grueling weekend with a 1-2 record at home. The weekend highlight was the Bulldogs' win over Evansville on Saturday.
BU edged UE 4-3 by winning four singles matches and controlling play at the top of the lineup. Stephanie McLoughlin cruised at No. 1 singles 6-1, 6-3 and Caroline Hedrick, Brittany Farmer and Konstantina Adami all won in straight sets. Evansville won the doubles point.
The clinching point came from Laura Shull at No. 5 singles. Shull pulled out a 6-4, 6-4 win over Marina Moreno to lift the Dawgs to the win.
The win over the Aces was a rebound from Friday. The Bulldogs lost to Middle Tennessee State 7-0. BU concluded the weekend with a 6-1 loss to Northern Illinois. Hedrick led the Bulldogs with a 6-3, 6-3 win at No. 2 singles over Haley Dekkinga.
Butler is off for a week before hosting Abilene Christian Sunday, Feb. 17.
