Women’s Tennis Competes in SIUE Fall Invitational

EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – The Butler women's tennis team was in action for the first time this season as they competed against Eastern Illinois, Evansville and SIUE in a Fall Invitational. SIUE hosted the two-day tournament at the SIUE Cougar Tennis Courts in Edwardsville, Ill.

Kailey Eaton and Angelina Qin each recorded a win in singles competition and the doubles team of Qin and Caroline Hedrick came up with the team's lone doubles win.

Eaton defeated Kali Donner of SIUE 6-4, 6-4 and Qin was victorious over Kamil Stadalninkait of Eastern Illinois 6-0, 6-4. The Bulldog doubles win came against Evansville as Hedrick and Qin defeated Kelsey Costales and Mina Milovic 8-4.

The Bulldogs nearly picked up three more wins as Grace Hyde and Hedrick both pushed their opponents to a third set, while Stephanie McLoughlin lost a tiebreaker to an Evansville opponent. Hyde lost 4-6, 6-2, 11-9 to Thomas McKenzie of SIUE and Hedrick took a tough 6-4, 5-7, 10-7 loss to Natasha James of Evansville. McLoughlin lost a tiebreaker to take a 7-6 (10-5), 6-3 loss to Marketa Trousilova of Evansville.

The women's tennis team will return to action this weekend by competing in the Ball State Invitational.
