Women’s Tennis Adds Two for 2014
INDIANAPOLIS – Head Coach Tayo Bailey added two student-athletes to the Butler women's tennis program on Thursday. Rachel Sutton and Bailey Padgett each signed a National Letter of Intent to attend Butler in the fall of 2014.
"I am excited to announce that Rachel and Bailey are committing to Butler," Head Coach Tayo Bailey said. "Now that we are in the Big East conference, I am looking to build a team that is talented, hardworking, and knows how to win. I believe Bailey and Rachel each have these qualities and that is why I recruited them. They will help add depth to our team and our depth will ultimately be the key to our success."
Carroll High School
Sutton is a First Team All-State selection that led Carroll to their first ever regional championship. The team then advanced to the semi-state championship and finished the year with an appearance in the state finals. A two-time team captain, Sutton has played at No. 1 Singles since her freshman season. She is ranked 57th in the Midwest Section of Girl 18s. Off the court, Sutton is an honor roll student that is also a member of the National Honor Society.
Carmel High School
Padgett is a three-time First Team All-State selection that has played on two state championship teams. She has played as both a state finalist and runner-up while at Carmel during her first three seasons as a Greyhound. USTA honors for Padgett include being a Midwest Tournament Champion, earning the Connie Held Memorial Scholarship and receiving multiple sportsmanship awards. A member of the National Honor Society, Padgett is a scholar athlete that was a part of the athletic student advisory board and a member of the principal's advisory committee.
