INDIANAPOLIS – The 2014 Butler women's tennis season will get underway this Saturday afternoon as the Bulldogs host Robert Morris (Chi) at noon on Saturday, Jan. 18 in the season opener.
"I am excited for the upcoming season as we have a good mix of upperclassmen and freshmen on the team," Head Coach Tayo Bailey said. "Our freshmen have worked hard throughout the fall to prepare for their first collegiate tennis season and the upperclassmen have been great leaders as well as mentors. I believe that we will have a good first year in the Big East Conference."
Bailey has a young roster to start the 2014 season with two seniors, two sophomores and four freshmen. Kylie Haviland, a transfer from Northern Iowa, will be inactive until this fall.
Stephanie McLoughlin and Angelina Qin will provide the team with leadership as each student-athlete returns to the court after completing their junior seasons. McLoughlin went 9-18 overall which included a 4-15 mark during dual matches. She played primarily at No. 1 Singles (3-12), but also saw some time at No. 2 Singles (1-3). Qin was limited to an overall record of 2-2.
Adami went 4-17 for Butler during dual matches primarily playing at No. 4 Singles (3-12). She was also able to pick up a win at No. 3 Singles (1-3). Reuter had a rough freshman season as she ended the year 2-20 overall with a 1-15 mark in dual play. She played a majority of her matches at No. 6 Singles (1-9) while also seeing time at No. 4 and 5.
