Indianapolis, Ind. - Butler rallied from a loss at the doubles point to score wins at the top five singles positions en route to a strong 5-2 victory over visiting Dayton on Saturday (Jan. 31) afternoon.
The top doubles tandem of Gabriella Bobrowski and Natali Jaimes scored their most dominant win of the early season, sweeping past Nikki Dzubay and Kelly O'Connell, 8-0. Dayton would rebound in the final two battles, however, and carried a 1-0 advantage into singles play.
Despite an early defeat at the No. 6 singles spot, the Bulldogs would respond with impressive showings at the remaining positions.
Jaimes would score a convincing 6-0, 6-3 win at the top spot over Loni Dickerhoof, while Bobrowski tallied a 6-1, 6-3 decision at No. 4 against Dzubay. Molly Casperson picked up a 6-4, 6-1 win at No. 2 over Laina Grote, Becky Jenkins ousted Chelsea Glankler at No. 3 by a score of 6-2, 6-4, and Cam Thompson chipped in a solid 6-2, 6-2 decision over O'Connell at No. 5.
The win improves the Bulldogs to 2-0 on the spring.
Butler returns to action on Sunday (Feb. 1) when it heads to Bloomington, Ind., for a 4:00 battle with Indiana.
