Bloomington, Ind. - Molly Casperson put up a resilient showing at the No. 2 singles position, battling through an exhausting three-set bout before falling short, as the Bulldogs dropped for just the first time this season in a 7-0 set-back at Indiana on Sunday (Feb. 1) afternoon.
Casperson jumped to a quick start in the match, scoring an early lead over the Hoosier's Charlotte Martin with a 6-2 first-set win. The Butler junior then put herself in a position for a two set win, forcing three match points before succumbing in a 7-6 (13-11) marathon of a second set.
Martin would then hold on for the win, scoring a 10-6 victory in the deciding set.
Butler returns to action on Friday (Feb. 6) when it takes on cross-town rival IUPUI beginning at 6:00 p.m.
