Indianapolis, Ind. - A dominant showing in singles play - highlighted by sweeps at the No. 3, 4 and 5 bouts - propelled the visiting Butler women's tennis team to a convincing 7-0 victory over IUPUI on Friday (Feb. 6) afternoon.
Against a short-handed Jaguar's team, the Bulldogs claimed the doubles point after Valerie Vinluan and Kahfii King teamed up for a solid 8-1 victory at No. 2 to lock up the opening point. Cam Thompson and Ashley Breitenbach made things interesting at No. 1, battling the IUPUI duo to a tie-breaker before falling, 8-7 (7-4).
Singles play would be all Butler, however, as the Bulldogs would fall in only seven of 67 games played during the match.
Natali Jaimes picked up a 6-3, 6-0 win at the top singles spot and Molly Casperson scored a 6-3, 6-1 victory at No. 2 after the trio of Jenkins, Bobrowski and Hayward completed their routs at their respective matches.
Butler returns to action on Saturday (Feb. 7) afternoon when it hosts Akron beginning at 2:00 p.m.
