Bowling Green, Ohio - Juniors Molly Casperson and Becky Jenkins teamed up for a strong win at No. 2 doubles, but host Bowling Green would claim the deciding wins for the doubles point before sweeping through singles competition for a 7-0 decision on Friday (Feb. 27) evening.
Casperson and Jenkins notched the Bulldogs' lone win of the night, ousting Samantha Kintzel and Katia Babina, 8-5, at the No. 2 position.
The effort would not be enough, however, despite some spirited showings in singles play.
Jenkins put up a fierce fight at No. 3 singles, claiming a 6-4 victory in the opening set before falling 6-4 in the second and 10-3 in the deciding tiebreaker to Kintzel. Sophomore Gabriella Bobrowski also notched a strong showing, picking up a 6-3 first set win over Babina at No. 4 before dropping a 6-1 second set and getting edged out in the tiebreaker, 10-8.
Butler returns to action on Friday, March 6, when it hosts Eastern Illinois beginning at 5:00 p.m. at the Butler Bubble.
