Butler Rallies Past Titans, 4-3

Southfield, Mich. - Butler rallied from an early 1-0 deficit to hold off a tough Detroit squad for a 4-3 victory on Friday (March 27) evening at the Franklin Athletic Center.

The No. 2 doubles tandem of Natali Jaimes and Gabriella Bobrowski scored a hard-fought 8-6 decision over Svetlana Flankova and Sophie Sjoberg-Sunds, but the Titans held on for close wins at the other two positions to claim the opening point.

Butler would bounce back in singles play, however, as Bobrowski, Molly Casperson and Becky Jenkins scored strong two-set wins. Bobrowski picked up a 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 2, Casperson added a 6-2, 6-2 triumph at No. 3 and Jenkins reeled off a 6-2, 6-3 decision at No. 4.

Cam Thompson provided the Bulldogs with the final margin at No. 5, rallying from a 6-1 defeat in the opening set to score a 1-6, 6-3, 6-2 decision over Sjoberg-Sunds.

Butler returns to action on Sunday (March 29) when it hosts Horizon League foe Green Bay beginning at 10:00 a.m.
