UIC Halts Bulldogs, 7-0

Indianapolis, Ind. - The Butler women's tennis team came up on the short-end of reigning Horizon League Champion UIC, as the Flames dealt a 7-0 set-back to the Bulldogs on Saturday (April 4) afternoon at Park Tudor High School.

UIC went on to claim all three doubles matches to earn the first point of the contest before sweeping the singles competition.

Sophomore Natali Jaimes put up a strong showing at No. 2 singles, winning the opening set, 6-3, but the Flames' Ilinca Cristescu rallied for wins in the final two sets to score a 3-6, 6-2, 6-2 decision. Junior Becky Jenkins also posted a first-set victory at No. 4 singles before succumbing to Elena Antakova, 4-6, 6-2, 1-0 (10-7).

Butler returns to action on Tuesday (April 7) when it hosts league foe Wright State beginning at 3:00 p.m.
