Indianapolis, Ind. - The Butler women's tennis team picked up wins in all three doubles bouts before scoring six impressive victories in singles play en route to a 6-1 decision against Horizon League opponent Wright State on Tuesday (April 7) afternoon at the Butler Bubble.
The win sends Butler to 9-10 on the year and 4-1 in conference play.
Cam Thompson and Ashley Breitenbach got things started for the Bulldogs with a strong 8-1 decision at No. 3 doubles. The No. 2 duo of Gabriella Bobrowski and Natali Jaimes picked up a swift 8-2 win before Molly Casperson and Becky Jenkins closed out the scoring with an 8-5 win at No. 1.
The dominance continued at singles play, as the Bulldogs notched two-set victories in all but one bout.
Jenkins rolled to a 6-0, 6-0 sweep at the No. 4 position before Casperson scored a 6-1, 6-4 win at No. 3. Bobrowski sealed the win in favor of the Bulldogs with a 6-4, 6-2 triumph at the top spot.
Brietenbach and Thompson each added convincing wins at the bottom of the lineup, as the former scored a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 6 and the latter added a 6-0, 6-3 decision at No. 5.
Butler returns to action on Saturday (April 11) when it heads to Youngstown State for a 5:00 p.m. contest against the Penguins.
