Youngstown, Ohio - The Butler women's tennis team picked up wins in all three doubles matches before claiming victories in the top five singles bouts en route to a strong 6-1 decision over host Youngstown State on Saturday (April 11) afternoon.
The win is the Bulldogs' 10th of the season and fifth in Horizon League play.
Cam Thompson and Ashley Breitenbach led things off with an 8-3 win at the No. 3 doubles position, while Natali Jaimes and Gabriella Bobrowski followed with an 8-4 triumph at the No. 2 spot. Molly Casperson and Becky Jenkins closed out the sweep of the opening point with a 9-7 victory at the top spot.
Bobrowski kept the success going at the No. 1 singles position, scoring a 6-4, 6-3 decision, while Thompson added a two-set win of her own at No. 5 with a 6-3, 7-5 win.
Casperson had to hold on late for a 6-4, 7-6 (7-4) decision at No. 3, while Jaimes and Jenkins each picked up three-set wins, with the former scoring a 7-5, 4-6, 6-4 victory at No. 2 and the latter rallying for a 2-6, 6-3, 6-2 triumph at No. 4.
The Bulldogs return to action on Sunday (April 12) when they take on host Cleveland State beginning at 10:00 a.m.
